Few national landmarks are as iconic
as ШУУД ҮЗЭХ Japan’s Mount Fuji.
The 12,380-foot-high, cone-shaped volcano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site some 60 miles from Tokyo; through May 31, guests of the Mandarin Oriental can enjoy an exclusive aerial tour of the mountain as part of the hotel’s Mount Fuji Helicopter Flycation package.
The 80-minute flights happen aboard a sleek Hermès Edition Eurocopter,
luxuriously upholstered in soft leather that enhances the extra-quiet
ride inside the cabin. Passengers enjoy spectacular views of Sagami Bay
and Lake Ashinoko as they make their way along the coast to Mount Fuji
and circle the peak for a bird’s-eye view of the mountain. A springtime
trip is especially striking, thanks to the shroud of pink cherry
blossoms that envelop the mountain’s flanks. On the return flight, the
pilot makes a pass by the country’s tallest building, the
2,000-foot-tall Tokyo SkyTree tower.
The all-inclusive package starts at approximately $6,500 for two guests
and includes one night’s accommodation in the Oriental Suite, breakfast
at K’shiki or Oriental Lounge, a bottle of Ruinart Brut Rosé Champagne
N.V., and round-trip limousine transfers between the hotel and the
helipad.
